On Saturday’s THO episode, they installed new thin brass(?) or copper metal weatherstriping along the window channels. They tacked this up, and scored it to make one edge stand out jsut a bit for drafts… said it is available in a roll, cut & trip to fit. WHERE?!?! Anyone know the real name for a web search, or better, any web sites to purchase from, or places in the Chgo and ‘burbs??
Thanks loads!

It is called- "spring Bronze weatherstriping" and should be available at an old fashioned type hardware store.
*Spring bronze weatherstrip is available from the following: National Guard Products, Inc. 1-800-647-7874 or Pemko Manufacturing Co., 1-800-283-9988. It's a historically "accurate" seal, but it doesn't provide the tightest seal you can get. Newer, modern neoprene or silicone profiles will make a tighter seal and conform to irregular surfaces better. Good luck!

But will it last as long? Or will it at least last long enough to make its other virtues a better value?

I've installed it before on a handfull of windows and it is a bit tedious to install, but allows double hung windows to slide against it without abrading it. Helps loose windows quite a bit. It is copper colored, but if I remember correctly it attracts a magnet. Probably copper coated steel. Attached with little brads every inch or two. Seems to work especially good for the sides of the window, and should last practically forever. Might consider some type of foam where the two windows come together or for the horizontal seals (to save effort).
Was looking for some at a HomeBase store a few days ago myself and only saw the nonmetallic stuff.
