Odd lot? Sounds to me you may be getting ALOT of “shorts.” I’ve dealt with the Brazillian Cherry(Jatoba) many times and it sounds as if you may be looking at FAR too many short pieces that are far too bowed and twisted and require alot of filling with the finishing process. Though I haven’t dealt with the Maple or whatever they call it…brazillian hardwoods are extremely dense and will last centuries in my opinion.
Samples always look great..too bad you can’t see a finished floor. Don’t let price make your decision.

Interesting that you say cherry, because that was my thought. In any case, I got to see the pallets and they looked like a normal mix of sizes. They were metric measurements, but appeared to be a normal mix from 1-6'. Too bad I can't open just a pallet to inspect what's in the middle. I think I'll insist on that if I make the buy. When you've bought Brazillian Cherry, do you get it through regular distributors or through some 'third tier' arrangement as this appears to be? Thanks for your frank comments.
*Definitely do a little exploratory surgery on the stacks before you purchase. I know a few who have found buried treasure in the form of nothing but shorts on the inside. Not to slander the reputation of the seller, but buyer beware is appropriate in "as is" sales.
*I got a break in price once for vg cedar siding and found out that I was getting a huge amount of shorts!!!!!Near the stream,aj

I am considering buying an 'odd-lot' of 3800 sq. ft. of what has been presented to me as Brazillian Maple. The sample I have seen is very pretty, and the price is GREAT.
Has anyone had experience with this wood used in flooring. It comes in metric measurements, but otherwise appears to be normal lifts.
I'm inclined to buy, but I don
t want to make an $8,000 mistake as this is not through a normal supplier and I'm sure I will have little recourse. Any comments appreciated.
