I need to create the transition from a terracota rectangular flue at the shoulder of the chimney to a round metal double lined flue.
I am getting conflicting info from the sales staff at local suppliers, so looking to see if the FHB network can provide.
It’s obvious that kits are developed for a transition cone, however these suppliers make it seem as though they are unavailable or they have discontinued making them available due to some unknown reason. (Possible liability issue?)
Most important to me is that overall the new fireplace work correctly. What is the criteria when creating this transition? Must the interior surface of the entire flue, from firebox to the point of exit be without the least amount of obstructions? No cracks, no lips, etc. What needs to happen with the transition kit, if available to insure proper placement and function?
What you got for me fellas.
