Hi,
I’m working on a “rough” preliminary estimate which would include brick veneer over wood frame. I have no experience with this. My Means guide suggests about 7.80 a square foot for labor and materials. Does that sound about right to anyone out there? East coast/ Baltimore.
Thanks,
Tom

I 'm not in the estimating dept, but I hear again and again the labor part increases with each scaffold level as you go up.
IronDog,
I'm not all that agreeable to giving figures over the internet for a lot of different reasons, but I'll tell you this, for this area that figure is way, way low. Wouln't even cover the cost of some brick.

Iron dog,
12$ minimum and if you are using expensive brick or the work is cut up and fairly high then at least 15$. If both things are the case then it could possibly be 20$.

IronDog,
Denver Colorado, $7.00 per sq. if its not all jazzed up! Also have a lot of spanish speaking Masons here. Brick is anywhere .29- .52 per brick. They charge a little more for the Queen size Bricks both labor & materials.
I hear $20, any other bids?
I sense there are two different definitions of "sq ft" being used here.
One may be the surface area in sq ft that is being covered. The other may be sq ft of the entire structure involved.
Hey Everybody,
Thanks for the input so far. Quite a range!
Just to clarify regarding Stonefevers comment.
I am referring to square feet of the actual brick not of any structure.
I've gotten a name of a mason who will come out next week.
I'll let you know what he bids.

We pay(and get paid as we lay brick) $700/thousand brick labor, and figure the brick are gonna run anywhere from $400/m to $700/m for the brick and materials average, cut ups are more, chimneys even more.
