I have a friend who’s building a vacation home in the Bahamas. I’ve been helping him with a variety of questions, latest one Re flooring material. His main requirement is something that is bug resistant (termites), but also moderately scuff resistant, since this is a beach house (i.e. sand).
Two “wood” options are bamboo and teak. Is my understanding correct that both of these are termite resistant? He emailed me RE a supply of finished teak for < $3.5 a sqft, I wrote back asking for details, seems inexpensive to me.
Cypress and redwood heartwood is also bug resistant but don’t know of any practical supply for this. Plus they may be too soft?
We discussed tile as an option, but was wondering if you folks may have other “wood” material ideas for the above?
Thanks

Australian Cypress should be considered.
My friend imports bamboo from China. There is products being eaten up by termite right now in his warehouse.
