I’m a novice carpenter but experienced wood finisher. That doesn’t help when I want to build a screened-in porch to add on top of the existing 16′ x 8′ slab and attach it to the rear of the house. The house has masonite siding, and I can go as high as I want since it’s two-story, but 8-10′ seems plenty. Basically, I figure what I really need are just plans and instructions to frame another, smaller house and attach it to the other one. The existing roof is 12-pitch galvanized metal, so I should probably just copy that with a more reasonable pitch, or not… I’ll also need a door. I think I can figure out how to screen it in, but maybe it’s not so simple… Any plans and instructions will be most appreciated. Thank you.

I would do all the screen with aluminum framing. Then you are just building an open carport type thing. The screen supplier has the doors and frames. What are your environmental concerns? Snow, earthquake hurricane etc?
Central Texas, hot and humid. Forget the screening for now, so forget the supplier. I will be building it out of cedar or treated pine, from scratch. PLANS???
I just scratch them on paper and adjust as I go. My BI doesn't care as long as the outside dimensions are there.
Sorry.
I guess you don't need engineering there.
We do partial engeneering our selves, if that makes sense.
