Has anyone here built a built in gas grill where the grill was built into a patio? I’m looking for some design ideas. A customer wants this for a concrete patio. The patio walls (it’s a 10′ elevated patio) will be stone veneered and I’m thinking the built in gas grill on the patio will look great with the same stone veneer. Any ideas, or pictures or links you can refer me too are welcomed. The customer wants one but is looking to me to propose some designs.

I don't quite understand your patio, it's elevated 10' but it's concrete? How "built in" do you want it? Integral to the structure, or simply looking like it belongs? One idea is to frame out a cabinet structure (with an inset space for the grill) using galv. steel studs, cover it with CBU's or denshield, and then veneer the sides with stone to match your walls and put a complimentary tile on the top for counter space. You can have the counter space extend as far as you wish on either side of the grill, and frame openings beneath the grill and counter space for storage or a small outdoor fridge (can't expect a guy to have to walk too far for a beer). It will look built in, but still be movable.
The patio is elevated 10' because at the ground level (the basement level) the walls that support the patio will rise to the second level of the house where the french doors are to exit onto the patio. Below the patio will be a "basement" of it's down that will be used as a workshop.
The HO has asked for an immovable gas grill built into the patio to look like it is integral to its surrroundings. This would mean, to me at least, to veneer it with the same stone that I will veneer the walls supporting the patio.
I'm looking for pictures of something someone has done that gives a built in look (even if it is movable) because I simply need some ideas on what works or looks nice. If at first you don't succeed, try using a hammer next time...everything needs some extra persuasion from time to time. -ME
