OK, time for a new comparison I haven’t seen anyone address yet. I need (want) to buy a table saw for home work, but only want to buy one in my lifetime. I am looking at 3 options (in priority): Grizzly G1023S, Jet JWTS-10cw2-PF or the Delta contractor 2000 series. I know the fence is everything and all three of these have the Biesenmeyer clone. The Grizzly is my favorite because of it being a cabinet saw with a 3hp motor. All come in around the $750 mark. BTW, this month’s Popular Woodworking “Tool Buying Guide 2001” does a great job of tool comparison. Anyone here want to convince me to go with the Jet or Delta instead?

Cal,
The new Delta 10" contractors saw is not what it used to be. Unless you're buying a Unisaw, I'd pass on Delta this year. I bought the Jet. Didn't want to, but it's what the old Delta's used to be. So far, none of my empolyees have said a bad word about the Jet except that the fence casted a shadow.......they replaced the inboard side with wood. I did take off the small motor and replace it with a 2hp Dayton wired 220. It makes all the difference when you use it all day. Powermatic has a new 10" saw that looks good, but I haven't bought one of those yet. It's better than the old Artisian line, and less costly than their big cabinet saw. If this is a home workshop saw, you don't need 3hp. 2hp wired 220 will do you just fine. And unless you're ripping big stuff, you might just get by with the stock 1 1/2hp motor wired 110. You can sometimes wire the 1 1/2hp motors to 220, but they overheat often and you have to wait to reset the motor after it cools down....not good.
Don't buy till you're ready.

*Cal,Whaterver saw you decide on will be improved with a Forrest blade. Worth the money. Good luck.
*If you want to buy one saw one time in your life, save your money and get yourself a Powermatic model 66. Real Biesmeyer, 3 hp, perfect every time ,amazing ,last a lifetime, piece of machine. Have been using one for 10 years and still have not found anything to complain about. And we even move the thing to big finish jobs from time to time. I have used them all and this is hands down without doubt the best table saw you can buy. Unisaw is next best 2nd place.
*I couldn't agree more with Jim, Powermatic is the saw. I was trained on one and when my shop is finally built, I will reward myself with a brand new 66. I don't buy new cars or trucks, but my stationary tools are different. They make a great lathe as well. Keep on spinning.
