I have a 12 foot by 24 foot cabin on a floating foundation (It is on railraod ties). I would like to build a porch attached to the cabin. How would you do this? I am in Minnesota. I have been able to keep the cabin level by re-adjusting wedges between the railroad ties and the floor supports of the cabin every spring. Usually I only need to make small adjustmants of about an inch.

Greetings irish, As a first time poster Welcome to Breaktime.
Is it pertinent for the porch to connect to the house or can just building to close tolerances work alright, letting the porch float on it's own also?

I think it needs to be attached as I would like it to be covered. In other words I want a roof on the porch. I was thinking of 6 feet by 12 feet for the porch.
Ok, how big of a porch are we talking?
An how high off the ground are your overhangs?
