Please help, I need a low cost solution.
I have melamine cabinets that will not no longer hold the blum hinge cup screws. I have tried resetting the hinges cup to a different position on the cabinet box which works for awhile but the heavy melamine doors continue to loosen the screws. Does anyone have a solution the keep the screw from stripping out? Cabinet replacement is not an option.

Remove door and hinge cups. Saturate the screw holes with superglue. Then use a Mighty Putty type epoxy putty in the holes. Allow to cure. Predrill for the screws with the proper bit.
Auto stores carry the putty for radiator and gas tank repairs. a 3" long stick is about 2.99.

thanks I will give it a try. should I put the epoxy in after the super glue is dried or apply at the same time?
The super glue will kick by the time you have the epoxy kneaded, so don't fret either way. It is just to harden the surrounding particle board or MDF core under the melamine and give the epoxy a solid bite.
IF the Superglue is wet, it won't affect the results but it may make getting the epoxy in more messy.
Pack that putty well with a nail head or similar, don't just cover the hole, fill it.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Blum makes a hinge that fits into the existing cup that has a lever (covers the screw holes) that locks down and expands the hinge into the cup. No screws needed. I'd try fixing the screw holes first since it'll be cheaper, but it's an option.
I will let you know how the epoxy works. I saw the expanding cup hinge in the catalog, I will try one of those and post my results
add an intermediate hinge to spread the load?
