Greetings from Michigan,
I have a small addition on my 1920s stucco house. 2×4 framed with OSB sheathing. I am planning to do a traditional 3 coat stucco exterior to match the original. There are lots of theories out there for underlayment. So…
1 layer of tar paper? 2 layers? Or do I use a newer product solo (stucco wrap), or under tar paper?
There seem to be some issues with newer materials adhearing to the scratch coat and water getting through.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

What you need in front of that OSB is a barrier that will keep moisture out, and let any water that gets in to leak out the bottom. Good flashing details are important here!
