Ihave someone that wants to put down an accent mosaic tile sheets as a tile border on a floor. It’s called wall tile, not floor tile. Can wall tile ever be used as floor tile? If not what is the difference?
Lowes told the client that it’d be ok to do so since it’s in a bathroom and not a high traffic area. I tend to disagree, I know my bathroom is a high traffic area. On this mosaic sheet are tile fragments that has a few “pock marks” all over it, looks Aztec-ish, or “lava like” in some regard.

Wall tile is frequently very slick and glossy, and would be slippery on a floor when wet. It is also sometimes rather thin.
For a border, mosaic tile would probably work ok.

Great, thanks Ed. This border mosaic is not slick or smooth but textured so that helps and indeed it's just a border around the perimeter.
Something like this? (For some reason the picture has a slight pink hue.) The field is grey and white porcelain, bordered with solid black granite cut into strips, with three shades of grey 1-1/4" mosaic tiles. I laid it with 1/16" grout lines and used grey grout that matches the large grey filed tiles.

You absolutly can use floor tile on the walls as long as the texture surface agrees with your tastes.
Floor tile is much harder than wall tile so thats not an issue at all as in visa versa.

Ok Just wondering, Andy, because Pyro was asking about putting wall tile on the floor, and before 6:00 AM you were telling him to put floor tile on th wall!
I hate it when I wake up in the middle of the night and the old mind starts racing. Especially when it's "too late for yesterday and too early for tomorrow."
