What is the best way to cut large diameter holes 4″ in 12 x 12 ceramic tiles?
I am tiling a dairy and need to cut 20 4″ holes for floor drains. A Rotozip might be good for a couple of holes but not 20. I am leaning towards a 4 ” carbide tipped hole saw. Should the tiles be cut after glued in place or cut before. I was thinking of using a drill press with a 12″ box made to hold the tile tight with a water bath. Any ideas on this.

how about a small grinder with a diamond wheel?
would require a deft hand
carbide hole saws might cut one if your lucky
id go with the grinder after install if posible, before install would be second choice
Diamond grit hole say would be the ticket. Not kind to the wallet but one saw should do 20.
Blue Diamond or Morse probably the best bang for the buck...
Who ever invented work didn't know how to fish....
With 20 of them to do, I would rent a concrete core rig and a 4" core drill. Should take a couple of hours, counting the drive to and from the tool rental. If I only had one or two, a carbide hole saw would work, but with 20 ...
does anybody in your area have a water-jet saw. a machine shop has one here, you wont believe how nice of a hole they will cut.larry
