I have a great cast iron enamel sink with some of the shiny surface missing, and I need to know if there is a way to put a clear coating on it that will last. I have heard of refinnishing bathrooms and even changing the color, but I just want to use something clear if possible because the sink is a light yellow or off white color and looks good. Will enamel spray paint of some kind do the trick? I want a permanent as possible solution ofcourse.

i've seen re-enameling kits advertised in the backs of DIY type magazines like Popular Mechanics or this old house. I hada customer find a shop in this state to do it for her on a whople bathtub for about three or fourt hundred bucks and it looked immaculate.
I wouldn't recommend the paint path. You just end up with paint that looks patched in.

Do the re-enamel kits come in clear? And what state were you speaking of? I am in the east. I want it to look professional, but don't have the big bucks.
I would hire the job out if there was a place near to me and it didn't cost more than a couple 100 or so. I'm in S.W. VA . Does anyone have any suggestions?
i'm in Maine and not sure how she found this place but I am supposing you should check for Restoration contractors and suppliers. Also a local plumber may have references and leads for you..

A re-enameling kit would be fine with me too if it looks good, and comes in clear. do you know if your client had a white or a clear coating applied to her tub? I am kinda near Roanoke so if someone can tell me suppliers either for re-enameling or for having someone else who can do the job somewhere in my area that would be great!
