WE ARE BUILDING A HOUSE WITH A PLAN THAT IS SIMILAR TO THOSE DESIGNED BY DONALD GARDNER. THE HOUSE HAS A 10/12 HIP ROOF WITH A FALSE CATHEDRAL CEILING FOR THE GREAT ROOM. THE HIP AND CATHEDRAL CEILING RIDGES RUN IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE INSPECTOR WANT US TO INSTALL SCISSOR TRUSSES FOR THE CATHEDRAL CEILING IF WE DO THIS IT FLATTENS THE CATHEDRAL FROM 10/12 TO 7/12 WHICH WON’T LOOK GOOD OR WORK RIGHT TO JOIN THE DORMER OVER THE FOYER WITH THE LIVING ROOM. IS IT NECESSARY TO MAKE SCISSOR TRUSSES IF THE ONLY WEIGHT ON THE CATHEDRAL CEILING IS 5/8 DRYWALL.
