I am installing ceiling joists along 10-7/8 AJS rafters approx 2/12pitch spanning 18′ & 16″oc. I am installing the the joists right next to the AJS and where the two meet [along the bottom edge of the AJS] I want to connect the two together with 16d nails. The joist would attach to the lower 2x3of the AJS. Is this allowed or should they be kept seperate? The joists will be crossed with strapping and then plastered.
