Shower stall / tile installation
I am using a shower pan (acrylic) – 6 inches high with a tile flange .
the instructions say to screw it to the studs
1 – should I use flat head screws (tapered under the head?) or round head screws (flat under the head)- seems the round head screws would be better?
2. And if the cement board overlaps the tile flange what do you do where the 3 screws per side are? Hollow out the cement board so the screw head does not lift it off the tile flange?

truss head or K-lath...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Probably a bit late now but I usually cut back the studs where the pan is going to go so that the lip sits in a bit. I guess back cutting the board would work too.
I set 1/8" or 1/4" furring strips (just depends on the thickness of the shower base material) over the studs in the shower area down to just above the tile flange, and then run my cbu down to just above the shower pan.
I then set Kerdi over the cbu up to a 6 foot height for water tightness.
Then I run my tile down to just above the shower pan leaving about an 1/8" gap that gets silicone caulk.
I would also recommend setting the shower base in some type of brick mortar of lightweight plaster rather than directly on a wood subfloor.
