For all those that have recommended the cement board shears – THANKS!
I dusted myself pretty well last year using my circular saw; I just got the PC shears for this year’s run of Hardi board (I’m replacing T111 as I have time).
High Speed/Low Drag! Quick, easy cuts with no dust.
Thanks again,
Marc

You got it! Pass on the good word now.
are you able to cut out notches with the shears?, or are they just used for straight cuts.
yup...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->
WOW!!! What a Ride!<!----><!---->
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I've cut notches already and expect that you can cut an arc if desired.
I have a Steelhead snapper sheers SS-404 with which I can cut wide radei, although it is designed for straight cuts. They make one however that is designed so that it will make curved cuts. It is difficult to make precise cuts where two lines meet at right angles, such as the corner of a window, but that is a small price to pay for the lack of dust.
Fbart, I drill a hole and then cut to that when I need the cuts to meet at a right angle. Works pretty good. I am thinking about buying one of those diamond encrusted holesaws, the kind that cut tile.
Right now I am using a spade bit and sharpen it with my diamond file. I have also cut the right angle part at the end with my multimaster using the tile grout cutter. It is carbide I think, but expensive.

are they not cool... i picked mine up at a pawnshop... they thought they were for sheetmetal... i didn't tell em any different just said they must be worn-out sice they wouldn't cut sheet metal... $10 and they were mine... kicked myself for all the dust and blades i killed in my saws... great for tile/backerboard too
