Am about to construct a cement shower base which will be tiled. (new construction) I really want to get this right. Is there a good source of instructions for this?

Haven't tried this myself, yet, though I have a shower waiting to be done in my very unfinished Master suite. Seems a very thorough and has the usual FHB quality to it...
John Bridge published a How To book which is available through Amazon. It's the best book around.

I just did one a month ago; very fancy set up, 3'x5' shower with a glass block wall surrounding it on two sides.
I was working on a concrete floor slab in the basement, so some things I didn't have to do. But basically you need to make sure the framing is bulletproof and DFL, then, to make your life easy, buy a pre-sloped insert. If that won't work, you'll have to trowel and float your mortar bed base to the right slope to the drain. This is the hardest part; it's like sculpture, actually. Also, the drain set is special; check with your plumbing or tile supplier to see what they have. Make sure you understand how to set it up.
Once your slope is done, you lay a membrane over thinset. (The membrane has to run about 6" up the walls, so make sure you put in blocking to tack it to when you frame the walls.) When that's dry, you lay some more thinset on the membrane, then set your floor tile on that. Then grout as usual. The walls have to be set on ½" cement board, not green gyprock. Gyprock screws every 6". You have to tape the joints on the cement board, just like it was gyprock, but you use a special compound for cement board.
Schluter-Kerdi puts out a CD that shows the whole thing very clearly in about 15 minutes. Makes it look very simple. If your skills are good, it is. http://www.schluter.com is their website. Possibly they have the installation video on the web, or you can order the CD from there.

Use the Schluter Kerdi-drain and Kerdi waterproofing membrane. The Schluter site has a downloadable set of videos that show the whole thing being done. It's really pretty foolproof.
Where I live, just about everyone doing tile work has switched to Schluter products for doing tile showers and tub surrounds.
I could not find it, help

Go to http://www.schluter.com and follow the products link to waterproofing and drainage. Look at the Kerdi and Kerdi-drain pages. You will have links to everything you need.
