building a new small SIPS home on NC coast (think hurricane), want to use cement siding, warranty (worth it?) of this product requires over 1.5″ of lumber to nail/ screw into, but SIPS give only 1/2″ OSB. How to fasten? will use 15# felt, was hoping to blind nail with 6″ reveal.

You are right to be concerned. If you want wind resistance then nailing into OSB is not going to give it to you. Have you contacted the manufacturer of the siding to see how they recommend applying it to SIPs?
the rep says the warranty is only valid if there's 1 5/8" of lumber for the fastener. that said, there are other ways to void a warranty if we don't follow the letter of the law. HERS consultant is also recommending a 1/2" furring strip to allow a drainage plane; cement board rep says 1 1/2" will make them happy for fasteners. has anyone ever used cement on a SIP? did they really add the furring strip out to 1 1/2"???
Do a search. This was discussed at length within the past month or 2.
