Does anyone have experience with central vacuum systems? What brand would you recommend? This would be to retro-fit a 50’s ranch while adding a second floor.

first you need to know how many square feet of living space you are going to end up with after the addition.
then you will want to consider what types of floors your going to be cleaning, bare floors vs. carpeting.
if carpeting will the accesories will be easy to use. the power nozzle will it be electric or air driven.
electric power nozzles could have an electric cord at the end of the hose or have pre wired inlet valves theat is more time consuming to install but is very convienent to use.
As far as the tanks are concerned there is 4 types to consider , my preffered choice is the cyclonic action type.
there is filter types and bag styles. will the bags be redelly available and how much will they cost.
after 8 years and a thousand or so of installed systems my choice is ELECTROLUX cleaning system.
My experience is that they have very few problems and the service is good with no service charges for house calls.
Electrolux doesnt' install these systems but can recommend a good installer. feel free to email me with any more Questions.
