The new house we are building includes a screened deck totally covered by a roof. A 3/4 inch exterior, treated sub-floor is presently installed. I want to use ceramic tile as my finished floor. Backerboard products appear to be approved for interior use only. What should I use under the tile when I install it?

There are wonderboard type products approved for exterior use also. They have a bit of a smell to them, so they must have some kind of solvent-based water repellant on them. We put ours outside in the hot sun for a few days to outgass. Our Home Depot sold both types of reinforced concrete backer boards.

Gary, Thanks for the information. I had priced backerboard at HD but I hadn't inquired about an exterior product. Now I will.

Bill:
You could install it on a standard mortar bed.
