now granted, I’d love to get a nice 2500 hd diesel. but hte ad I’m seeing on check in show’s a ford base 2dr white work truck, next to a blue ext. or crew cab chevy. deceptive at best, if not down right fraudulant.
havn’t watched their commercial but that is really bad. yeah or neah?
Replies
You should have watched the commercial before speaking out. It was comparing the fuel economy of the two, which was the same with the Chevy having more HP/torque.

About 3-4 years ago Ford madfe a big deal about having more volume in the truck bed. they accomplished that by raising the height of the side rail. And if you look at a Cheby and a Ford side by side, the Ford is much bigger. the problem is that it is a lot harder to reach over the side of the bed to get something from the cargo area. Didn't they invent a sissy step in the tailgate to make access easier?

they got them sissy steps in the sides now too......
http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/f150/features/#page=Feature5 but those tall sides are one of the reasons I didn't buy a used Ford ... that, the engine and a very inflexible Sales Mgr..

nothing wrong with that Triton Engine.
probably not, you wrote that yours was just fine cept for the valve, but I guess I was just going Chevy this time around, in fact we settled for a Silverado 01 4WD yesterday.... get it next week... mebbe Ford next time.

I bought a new Silverado 4wd in 2005. Good for almost 60,000 miles with $2000 worth of out of warranty repairs. I would seriously reconsider. The Toyota I traded it in for, trouble free for a very dependable 80k so far.
this one has 70K and both dealer and my guy say the thing is very clean and fancy, it's has more buttons and knobs than a B-29 ...... probablyI just can't talk myself into a furrin truck.

Ford drove me into a "furrin" truck. I saw the service writer more than my family. I know some people love them and have good luck with FoMoCo and Chebby. But my two Nissan's have never let me down. And I've owned several products from the General and FoMoCo that I can't say the same about. Unfortunately the Titan is dead and the Tundra is fugly. Hopefully one of them will make something worth buying till my Titan is wore out.

choosing a vehicle is pretty much like choosing a doctor I think,
what works for me is just that, my cars and trucks are pretty much worn out when I'm done with them, '95 is the last time I bought anything new, and that truck was in the shop every other day for the first few weeks, but we kept it and it is the one I'm getting rid of now.

Good luck. Maybe mine was a lemon. That will very likely be the last GM product I purchase.
I have a '71 Chyenne that has held up pretty well, but with the exception of that truck, I buy new vehicles regularly. I have always bought from US mfrs in the past, Jeep, Dodge, Saturn, Ford, except for one Nissan. Always had good luck up to 100k miles, then they become too "needy" for me. That 2005 Silverado was poor, but it did have lots of bells and whistles.
ThanksSince retiring this past March I don't have any desire or plans to put the mileage on these trucks that I piled up working, so we'll see. Hopefully I only have to worry about changing the oil every 3-4 months instead of every 3 weeks.

I drive a 1 ton GMC Savanna, bought it used through my brother. It's a 2001, spent it's life as an fleet vehicle, hauling auto parts from Michigan to Canada and back. It now has................
265 thousand miles! It was meticulously maintained I'll grant you but still. Doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes, runs like a top, pulls like new*. I've probably had 8 Chevys (6 or 7 Z28s and a Vette... oh yeah and 2 Blazers) and I've had an issue or 3 over all but I've always been pleased on balance.
Sighhhhhhhhhhhh... my '78 Z28 with a police interceptor package... now THAT was fun.
*(btw, least anyone think this is a fluke, my brother bought 3 of these all together. Each had insanely high miles and every one is still running just as good as mine. Gotta think part of that is synth oil.)

That valve spring broke at 216,000. It cost me 800 to do a valve job.
Ford is the truck people, now that International doesn't make pickups anymore. Started the business, and still the leader and only US maker not bankrupt. I believe in part this is because a lot of people named Ford work their.

I agree , those sidewalls broke the deal after my wife could barely see over the sides.

I really don't have any allegiance anymore, but this ad again'st the "man step" was funny.

The best work truck I've seen for jobs that aren't in the mud is a Toyota longbed.
It sat low to the ground and was lOONGG with boxes along both sides and a full lumber rack.
It was loaded for comercial jobs.

I wouldn't mind those "sissy side steps" on my Silverado.
There are times when I'm tieing things down to the roof rack on top of my shell that they would make it easier. If I think I'm going to be hauling something up there I have to remember to take a small step ladder/stool.
The milk crate isn't quite tall enough....moo, I mean boo!
I'm not flippin' you off.........just counting cubits

I saw an SUV that had a step pop out when the driver opened his door..... I thought it was kinda fruity but it served a purpose...
