I recently had a 92%+ efficiency natural gas hot air heating system installed. As this systems requires that the input and exhaust air be piped in via separate pvc pipes through the rim joist my external chimney is used only to vent a 40,000 btu input gas hot water heater.
Initially the heating contractor told me I would need a chimney liner
but later told me that the 40000 btu water heater was adaquate to
eliminate moisture in the chimney. What is the real truth here??
