Just came off a 3 day remodel blitz w/HFH in Lansing Michigan. The crew leader insisted everyone use his Skil worm-gear saw, invoking the west coast mantra that once you use it you’ll never go back. I have to admit, after 3 days of heavy use with this heavy sucker, I liked the left blade and the raw power. I’m now considering purchasing either a Porter Cable left blade or a Mag 77.
Any opinions on either?

Mag 77. Accept no substitutes.
Oh, add a side hanger and you're set.
Sam
*As Sam said - Mag77 and the hanger. Only way to go...Peace,MartinPS - Bob, are we going to see you in Long Beach, CA for the Hollywood for Habitat blitz build?
*Bob, Before you spring for a saw that weighs as much as a medium sized chainsaw, look at the new Milwaukee with the blade on the left. Still don't understand why anyone would like a big ,clumsy worm drive saw but maybe it's because I don't work with material that requires something like that. Lots of people wouldn't use anything else! Different strokes....
*I got a Milwaukee worm drive, and really like it. I had to get the 8 1/4" saw, so mine would be bigger than the other kids on the block...............(-:
*Bob, I have the porter cable & have used the "77" many times. I know how they do it in CA. but the P.C. does it for me .You really can't beat the weight and I've never had a problem with power, and trust me no-one can stress a saw like yours truly .
*Hi bob,I worked construction for 10 years in the Lansing area. Nobody except the smart guy had a worm drive back there. Here (Portland OR) mag 77's rule. I would not consider any other 7-1/4" saw.joe d
*Here I go again (Crazy Legs if you see this go easy on me). The framers saw from Dewalt is worth a look. Same blade configuration as the Skil Mag 77. Same power. Just not as much wieght to lug around. It will bevel to 50 degrees. Only problem I've had is one got really wet this spring and didn' run for about three days till it dried out. They have been dropped a few times and survived with only a little tweak in the foot (table, shoe what ever it's called). Those were ten foot falls if any one cares.jim
*Jim,Next thing you're gonna' tell me is that you've sold your Powermaster in favor of a Hitachi! :-) Sam
*I will not trade my Powermaster for a Hitachi SamNot for a fox not for a box I will not trade it Samby the way did you mount that hook yet,jim
