Hello: Im finding myself being asked to build more and more built-ins, custom cabinets, breafast bars, etc. It requires ripping and cross-cutting sheets of cabinet grade plywood into pieces to build a carcass. My current circular saw (a basic Skil saw) and flimsy saw guide aren’t producing the quality of cuts I need. I have a portable table saw (Dewalt) but am looking for recs on 1) a good circular saw and 2) quality saw guide.
Any advice? Thanks
Pete

Are you sure you're not looking for a portable panel saw?
Skil Mag 77 with a Matsuchida ATB blade.
Two 6" quick clamps and various length straight edges.
Don't listen to the rest of these yayhoos.
Jim, if you're gonna go that way to save yourself some bucks then save the customer a little on what they have to pay you too by saving some time. Build a "T" sguare shooting board to save measuring/clamping time.Excellence is its own reward!
Hey, that's not a bad idea. Thanks.
And since I'll be more efficiant, I'll be able to charge more per hour, because I'm getting more done, right? And that will pay me for the time to make and maintain another tool that saves me time. I like the way you think.

Seriously if you like a wormdrive a mag 77 will outlast your great-grandchildren!

Makita 5057KB. It has a close fitting guard for dust control hooks up to a 1.5" vac hose. The blade included is intended for cutting fiber board but rips and cross cuts with very little blow out. I also slice up many sheets of plywood and am very glad i got this saw. Check out http://www.robertstool.com for the best price. Up date: http://www.mytoolstore.com even better! at $222.

Pete,
When I have to crosscut plywood for cabinets, shelving, etc. I use my PC with a "Clamp 'n Tool Guide". I like the base on the PC because it isn't stamped steel, and the clamp can be adjusted up to 50" and stays put when clamped. I'm sure there are other saws that would get the job done, but this is what I like.
