Just curious as to what one would use to take the dirt/stains off the Aluminum eavestrough. i have tried soapy water with some household cleaner, but it don’t seem to do a good job. Any suggestions on whatcleaning solution to use that will not damage the paint on the trough. ?

try formula 409 it does a nice job!!!
Hi Hube! We have white troughs and the airborne pollution really streaks them with ugly black marks. We've had great luck with Zep Cleaner and Degreaser (Home Depot) and Simple Green (most hardware stores). Just spray it on (not in direct sunlight), wipe with a wet sponge or cloth and Presto! looks like new. Rinse well. And remember to wear rubber gloves - the stuff will make your hands so clean they'll ache! Hope this helps.

Eavestrough?" You're not from around here, are you?! Isn't the web great the way it can bring people from all over together?
If I were meticulous enough to clean the outside of my "gutters," after somethng like Simple Green, as suggested above, I might try a solution of water and liquid bleach to remove algae, fungus and organic stains.

No, i'm not from around there, but then neither are you from around HERE. Anyways, bleach and water, as you suggested wont even come close to taking these stains off.(i've tried it earlier) I'm hoping someone will have had some luck in removing this normal country air(sun baked) staining over the last 6 years since it was installed. Its a white color and this tends to make it appear more dirty than it really is. Thanks for your reply
