I’ve just laid 2″ square mosaic tile with 1/16″ grout joints. The thin-set has squeezed out into the joints and was mostly cleaned out while still soft. What was missed, I am currently cleaning out with a grout removal attachment on my Dremel tool. This is quite laborious and I was wondering if anyone had a better method?

I would think that the job would be similar to removing old grout in order to renew it.
Any suggestions on that?
Hope you have some good knee pads.
Sounds like you have it licked tho'.
You using a straight edge?
I used a staight-edge. Why?
It was a nasty vision I had of a huddled form with it's nose 6 inches away from a two inch tile is all.
Is this a flooring or counter top?

Bathroom floor. It does do a job on the vision.

heh heh.
<was mostly cleaned out while still soft.>
Got me wondering just how clean you got the thinset out the first time thru when it was still soft?
I would think the greatest attention would be to any thinset that might have spilled over on to the tile face and edge itself for the grouting appearance.
Outside of that are you concerned with the capabilities of the grout adhering to your grout lines? I would think that you would have removed enough of the thinset when soft for good adherence and thus cut short your labor with the dremel.
But I'm a greenhorn.
That's the idea .... make the mud thick enough .... then use the right sized trowel .... then set the tiles with just enough pressure .....
But every now and then ... reality gets in the way ....
I don;t have a dremel ..... so a beater screwdriver or chisel ... tapped lightly along ... with a hammer .... or what other tool of destruction is on hand ..... and all the joints get cleaned before grouting.
Andy's right .... just take time .... but time well spent.
