I have a customer who wants to convert a 24″(d) x 42″ (w) x 106″ (h) closet into a pantry. My plan is to install a large drawer on the bottom 16″, then use 2 or 3 pantry slides in the middle section with a top shelf. What I was hoping to find was a pull down storage unit that can, when not in use be pushed up above the door and have access to shelves of canned goods on the peramiter of the closet. I’ve explored dumb waiters but they are primarially for move goods frm one floor to another. Any ideas out there?

What you may want is a "mixer" bracket. Check Accuride, Hafele ("cabinet hardware") for more info.
I'm guessing that you want some way to have shelves that go "up" into the hard to reach areas, and down for access. Is that correct?
Or are you more thinking of a "stack" of, say, can racks, one in fornt of the other; and the front one can be lifted up out of the way, perhaps?
Seems like I remember a european outfit that had a group of four spice rack-sized units that followed a track around. You pushed a button, and the bottom front one rolled up; it then rolled back, then down, then back to front again. I seem to remember it was a "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it" sort of outfit, too (and a lot of work for 2" deep spice racks).
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I am thinking about going "up" into the hard to reach area. I'll check out the Acuride and Hafele web sights. I had used the Rockler sight to no avail.
Anton,
How about one of those TV lifts that go in cabinets .When your not using the TV it's in the cabinet when you want to watch it pops up.Dont know if the hardware will be in the way or if it'll work just first idea to pop into my head .When we have pantries that needs access to the sides we build hinged sheves that open to provide access to back and sides.

Thanks for the reply. I thought of the TV pop ups also. It seemed as though they were in fact pop up which wouldn't let me lower a unit down into the closet pantry area.
I may just check this out more.
