I’m trying to find a closet system with solid, not wire, shelves. The system should have all of the popular storage options (e.g. baskets, drawers, shoe shelves, cubbies, etc.). Product quality and ease of installation are, of course, also important.
Thanks for any advice.

John,
I believe that California Closets has the solid shelving system you're looking for. I saw them at a trade show last year and I think they had melamine covered shelves. Good luck.

*Speaking of closets and architects.....Here is an idea I like to think I dreamed up, but am sure 9 million other people thought of it first: when I added a bedroom to our house, I had the idea to build a better closet by making the clothes-hanging area about 6' tall (cut the tops off the doors); then I put in a full size storage area above, with cabinet doors and an adjustable shelf.Don't you HATE those regular closets with the silly little shelf above the hanging bar?
*If you have a decent library available, this seems to be a semi-annual subject in The Family Handyman magazine. The mag has some good ideas on occasion, but they tend to repeat themselves a lot. Anyway, look for back issues, plus they have an annual index.
