Russ said something interesting in another thread, so I have quoted him here, and hope to get a discussion started on what y’all expect of homeowners/clients, and how do you tell them?

Is this a printed document that you hand the homeowner? Can you give us more points you address in it?

don't know the answer, maybe I'll learn something here.
Coupla weeks ago HO asked to borrow my van to move some furniture, for the basement we are finishing. kind of floored me, didn't know what to tell him.... especially since I'd only had the van for a week.........
But he did bring it back full of gas. <G> and then my helper helped him unload.. Just call me soft touch.
This ? can be turned about also.

i dont know about other states but here in california if you let someone use your vehicle you are responsable for what ever happens with it and your insurance will not always cover a coule of years ago two guys borrowed a freinds station wagon and boat to go to the local lake fishing they drank beer all day in the hot sun and then drove home as they were getting back to town they ran into the back of some one at a stop sighn hi sppeed and a young girl was killed the driver had a past of driving under the influence of alcahol he went to prison were he belonged
the guy that owned the boat and station wagon was sued into bankrutcy lost his business and home and now payes a very hi insurance rate
when you let that customer drive your van if he had been hit by an uninsured motorist you would have had to pay his med bills and possibly been sued for whatever if he had hurt his back loading into your van he could hsve held you liable if he ran a stop sighn and caused an accedent it would have been on you
also when your helper was helping move that furniture youwere lable for any back injuryor whatever
we all like to think hey hes a good guy he wont sue well it not always thair choise somtimes thair insurance co will do it for them

Why do all you contractors from California preface your comments with... "i dont know about other states but here in california"..... It's rapidly becoming apparent that you really can't do anything in Ca. <g>
My insurance does cover other drivers in my work van, but you probably bring up some good points.
As far as paying his med bills, he's a doc....doesn't he get that free. <g>
Oh and he did say I could use his Lincoln Navigator while he was gone....... I was thinking about hauling the drywall scraps in it.

The anywhere-but-California rule applies to structural design and environmental regs too. So strict, yet the people seem so laid back......that's not a mistake, it's rustic
At the risk of stating the obvious, NO ONE dictates who does or does not use my tools. If I say they can , then they can, if not no is no. When it comes to my tools I do not rely on the GC to liason between the HO and me.
In the same arena, the GC can not lend out me or my tools, without a yes from me.
We are how old? This is said in all due respect.
