My father would always warm the caulking in the oven before using. Just set it on an old cookie sheet, or foil pie plate to make sure it doesn't drip in the oven. This will give any caulking a better chance when it hits a cold surface.

*Leo, we just leave the tubes in the floor of the truck cab with the heater running wide open. That keeps them warm enough to pump. It is a good idea to store them in a heated area because a few freeze/thaw cycles can really mess up the properties of some caulks. If you are concerned about cure rate. Read the labels and proceed accordingly.Dave
*To make sure the caulk stays where you want it be sure to read the label to be sure the surface temp is ok. You may have to drop something like visqueen/blue tarp over the area and pump some heat in there to get the surface temp up. But read the label and do a trial area to see for sure.
*Clear Phenoseal does don't freeze anywhere near as quick as caulk with pigment added. When we use to caulk houses off, we'd side the house all the way to soffit then as we lowered the pumpjacks caulk every thing off ,we'd keep two extra tubes inside our jackets after taking them out of the truck. This way you don't have to run up and down the ladder. Your body heat helps keep them from freezing up, which can happen very quickly at 20 degrees.
*Leo, Sherwin Williams makes a cold weather caulk called Lo Temp 35 if I remember correctly.
*Leo,OSI also makes an all weather caulk. Adheres like mad to wet wook or masonry too.
*Lexel makes an elastomeric caulk appliable between 0 &120 degrees ( where is that degree key?)with my tendonitus ,I also use an english caulk gun (glass ccompanys use them) which beats ANY gun I've used (17-1 ratio)That's my story & I'm sticking to it !!
*Where do I find that stuff ? My wook is always wet, and I need to seal it.

*I use Vulkum sealant all year round with no problems. Be sure to keep it warm, in the house or truck. Tough stuff to get used to, but works great and lasts forever. well maybe not forever , but I've gone back on jobs 6 and 7 years old and still holds up
*Help with cold weather roof flangeI have to vent a gas heater through my roof with 3 inch single wall vent pipe. I plan to put it through a weatherproof vent flange. It is currently below freezing up to the mid 30's. Can I do this without ending up with a leaky roof? Do I have to heat up the shingles before I slide the flange under them and when I try to get the tar to seal? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
