Hi, Breaktimers, a fugitive from Knots here. Y’all helped us get the right tools and fasteners for our Ipe deck, and it’s all done but the balusters! We have some cedar involved in the railing, and hubby wants to stain it. It’s looking like we’ll have to wait a couple months unless there’s a stain that works in 45 degree weather. I told him there isn’t, but thought I’d check with you, just in case there’s a miracle product out there.

One idea would have been to prestain your railing indoors then take out and install. If you can number and dismantle your railing consider that. Much warmer in the shop or garage.
Yep, that was the first and only suggestion I had for him. He vetoed it. I guess we'll just wait for things to war up a bit. It's not as bad as waiting to plant tomatoes, where it needs to be no cooler than 55*, even at night, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

Up here in Wisconsin I've always considered cold weather to be a good excuse to put off such stuff until spring or summer and stay inside watching football, though that doesn't help at the present. When my DLW suggests getting a head start on spring, I suggest that she help me outside. Case closed.
I'm on your side. I understand his desire to move on to the next thing (balusters), but I'm happy to let it go for awhile! We'll be able to watch baseball soon. ;-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
