Collar Ties

Hi,

The attic in my 1888 Victorian house has a low “ceiling” about 6′ 4″. I’d like to raise it up a bit maybe 7′ 6″, or more if possible. My question is whether my moving the collar ties up, will I adversely alter the structural integrity of the roof.
