Any pros or cons in using the encapsulated insulation bats? I was planning on using it between the ceiling joists. I know it’s a bit more expensive but I hate handling fiberglass.

Also, any thing on the stuff that's made from old jeans that is slightly larger than the opening so you squeeze it in there?
just installed some r-30 16" battens, much easier to handle. The kraft backed kind are easier to staple in place than the poly wrapped kind, even though the poly is a better vapor barrier than kraft paper.
I haven't used ComfortTherm, but I have used Owens Corning MiraFlex Attice Blanket (R-25) for my ceiling joists in the basement. It firberglass insulation that has a thin layer of pink perforated plastic around it. It is less messy than handling unenclosed insulation, but I still wear a respirator, gloves and long sleeves and pants. The plastic is flimsy and can rip easily. The insulation seems to get all over the place no matter what. But all in all, I think the stuff that is enclosed is less messy (and less likely to get caught on things) than the unenclosed stuff. Good luck - write back with what you decide and how it goes.
The miraflex is the cats meow, that stuff is a breeze to work with and I really like how it comes in rolls.
