I have a compression fitting that I can’t seem to get a complete seal on. There isn’t any room to cut the copper pipe and start over. The leak is not bad. You have to run your hand over the valve to notice it. Any advise on how to get a better seal without cutting the pipe? Thanks Brent

Epoxy?

Brent, You probably either had it crooked when you tightened it or tightened it too much. Try sliding the nut back and wrapping the sleeve of the fitting with several wraps of teflon tape. That's a popular plumber's trick and often works if the leak is small.

Compression fitting; what is in the pipe, propane? If this is a fuel gas or oxygen cut and start over, no matter what. If not, the tape idea is pretty standard.
*ditto lalonde and fred b......if this doesnt work throw out that compression stuff.....pick up a 3/8" or whatever size coupling....sand well, flux and silver solder that baby and you will never have a leak again.....
*"The leak is not bad. You have to run your hand over the valve to notice it." Are you saying that if you put a cup under it, no water ever ends up in the cup? Is this a cold water line? Are you sure it isn't condensation instead of a leak?A small possibility...Rich Beckman
*Ive always thought that compression fittings were for water only, not gas. If it is water, id agree that it probably went in crooked, so id redo it and try to get it in straight, maybe teflon tape too.
*... probably the end of the copper is too mangled if it went on wrong and was compressed. Those sleeves are one-shot deals. Sounds like you're close to perfect though. (Make SURE the copper will never pop out -- personal experience, messy -- check back in there from time to time.)Anyone use the gel teflon pipe dope approach? I hate those little bits of tape.
