This may appear to some as a simple solution, but I’m stumped. I have a PC portable compressor (135 psi). When I tried to add air to a wheelbarrow tire (30 psi max.), I had to dial the regulator down to about 10 psi to get any air moving into the tire. As the pressure in the tire increased, I could gradually dial the pressure up at the regulator. The air chuck I am using is just a standard chuck attached to a male coupler. Am I missing something?

Full flow safety valve, maybe?
To prevent the air line from whipping around like a rabid dragon if the end fitting blows off?
That doesn't sound right as the tire fitting should be restrictive enough to prevent a safety function from kicking in, I would think. Will it blow thru the standard chuck into open air?

If I press the post valve in the chuck, it will blow through. My only logical explanation is the pressure in the tire is not great enough to depress the post valve open. Once the pressure is reduced at the regulator, it works. Kind of a pain in the butt. This is the first compressor I have owned, so I don't know if this is normal.
Yeah, I think you got it. I know you really got to push hard on those little self opening chucks.

little pancake compressor? I've used mine to add some to my truck tires with out a problem
what happens if you try to run a blow gun off it?
