I’m getting concrete delivered for 2 very small slabs in a couple of days. The earliest they can come is noon and I need it sooner than later, so no waiting until next week for an 8 AM time. Weather lately is cool and damp. I need the stuff to set up quicker than normal so I can finish it before dark instead of getting the lights out and finishing it at 11 PM. I know the batch plant can add calcium. I have heard some finishers really hate calcium (not sure why) and know there is at least one other accelerator that can be used. What’s your recommendation? I can get all the mud off the truck, screeded and mag floated in 20 minutes.

If you don't realy want the accelerator...why not just pour at a reduced slump?? Sounds like if you can get them done in 20 minutes or so then a 3 slump would be possible, if not then a 4....we did a lot of pours in upstate NY in the spring (damp, wet, cold) and never poured greater than a 4, usually this was the spec slump and I can't think of a single time we poured even in the early afternoon where we were there after dark.....what is the normal slump you pour??? BTW..some of those pours we did were in excess of 100 yards...
If you aren't one of the one's I'm talking about, you shouldn't have any complaints....
we spec non calcium accelerators
pouring stiff ( as mentioned, helps )
requesting high-early concrete helps also
as does a high psi mix such as 4500 psi
carpenter in transition
you using type IV???
