I need some advice to help with an entry porch and stairs that went
awry. What should have been a seamless mono pour of a porch with
a facing tile indent at the perimeter, and two radius stair cheek walls,
turned into a bugger. What I'm left with is an entire porch system that
needs to be dressed with a top coat of some material to fix the
results of my "I can do this" mentality. I have filled some vertical voids
with jet-set over weld crete, and have finished two of five stairs with
approximately 1/2" of Featherspread, over weld-crete. I have been
unable to succesfully work a broom finish on the treads, and I'm
concerned the Featherspread will leave too polished a surface for
safe travel in the wet and frost. Before I continue with surfacing the
rest of the porch, stairs, and walls with this stuff, I would ask for the
voice of experience here. I would like to surface with a dressing that
will go with additional concrete at the landing and walkways. I would
also like it to be traction friendly, and should last for three hundred
years. I've seen a number of concrete walls that have been
resurfaced with something that looks very uniform in its color ( this
Featherspread seems to dry with irregularity, producing light and dark
patches, with white stained areas), looks only slightly darker than
cured concrete, and best of all doesn't look like a patch job. My total
square foot of coverage is around 300 sq ft. Or should I stop, and
hire a pro? Any idea as to cost for professional rescue?
*Try http://www.masterbuilders.com. They have some great products. Sorry I can't figure out how to create a link to other web sites. Maybe someone can make it more clear to me than the Help function does.
