I plan to convert my detached garage into a mancave with pool table, entertainment center, etc. The floor is concrete and is 30ftx30ft with significantly sized expansion joints. I plan to use a thick epoxy paint to cover, but I was wanting to epoxy over the expansion joints. My internet search revealed multiple different recommendations including patching with a specific type of epoxy product that allows for expansion and contraction without damaging or cracking the concrete, and then applying the epoxy paint on top of this. Any suggestions or recommendations with reasoning would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey there, I assume HotRod found something since he posted back in June, but I'd recommend a product by Anchor-Seal. If you search Anchorseal you'll find the green end grain treatment for pressure treated lumber... not what you want of course... Look at Anchorseal.com however and you'll get to the right place. I've used there products for exactly the same situation you describe. They are phenomenal. When I started researching the product I was shocked to find out the company's owner lived less than a mile from me. The 2 part filler material is placed into the crack/joint by way of a plunger type gun where the 2 parts mix at the tip. It is very much like caulking at this point. You overfill the joint, let it set for a few minutes, then go back with a blade (a sharpened joint taping knife works great) and peel the excess. It's rubbery, tough, and looks great. I fulled all of my control joints with it in my finished basement floor and it looks great and keeps the floor so much cleaner. I highly recommend the product. Good luck.
