It’s time to add yet another nailer to my almost endless collection of nail guns.
I have roughly 5,000 lineal ft of soffit and fascia to put up on a commercial job. But most of it I will need to attach the F-channel to the new brick (mortar joints).
Anyone got a good reccomendation for a concrete nailer? I looked at the pneumatic Bostitch, it shot 9/16’s to 2-1/4″ nails. I tried a Powers cordless gun today and it worked great but it’s $600. Twice what I can pick up the Bostitch for.
Plus the Powers gun only shot up to 1-1/2″ nails. Be nice to be able to use the Bostitch gun for shooting down green plates in the future after this job.
Is the pnuematic a good gun? Or is the cordless that much better?
I will remember before I forget.

When we do soffit to brick we use drive pin anchors.
The gun seems to blow out the F channel.
Takes a few to drill but it gets to be a system. Buy a nice cordless hammerdrill if the job is fairly green, and you will have no problems.

The bad news is you've done exactly the right things to be exactly where you are today.

Thats what I thought would happen. After todays demo I was very suprised.
It shot the 7/8" nails into the mortar joints without blowing through or knocking any brick loose. I used washers with the nails as well.
I really think it would pay for itself easily in relation to the magnitude of the job. It would seriously cut down on some man hours. I will remember before I forget.
I have an old Bostich gun. It only shoots T headed nails. So I wouldn't think it be good for what your doing. Plus it weighs a ton. I got one kickin around the shop somewhere you can buy it if you want. LOL. We use these nice guns for shooting platon waterproofing to foundations. I can't remember who makes them though. I think its Paslode or Ramset. I'll find out
I think I'll pass on the Bostitch then. Spend the extra money on one that I know will work.
I have a .27 caliber Hilti but was worried about knocking bricks loose even with the lighter loads.
THe f-channel will need to be nailed in the area of the top two courses. THats why I am a little worried about it. I will remember before I forget.
