I will soon be building a house that has two porches, both of which will have steel reinforced concrete floors poured on corrugated steel. One spans seven feet and the other four feet. Where do I find information on how to properly construct these floors and how far I can span them? I have looked in code books, a masonry book and basically every construction book I have and there is nothing written about this subject. It seems like most concrete guys just sort of guess at it. If anybody can lead me in the right direction I would appreciate it greatly.

I put it in my house. Spans 15' on the back porch and 3' on the front porch. Otherwise, I'd expect you would need engineering for your inspector.

If you've got a good sized masonry supplier who does commercial work in your area (AH Harris springs to mind in the North East), they should be able to point you in the right direction.
