Hi,
I’m remodelling a former storage room that has the main fuse panel in it. There is a 1″ underground cable from the workshop that comes through the wall. There is presently condensation forming around the cable and dripping on the floor and into the wall insulation. This is the first time this room has been insulated and I hadn’t noticed the problem before. The cable is above ground for 3 feet before passing through the outside wall. In my area, Quebec, Canada we have frost to 3 feet in the winter.
Any ideas on how to stop condensation from forming on the cable?
Thank you,
Michael

Try wrapping some foam pipe insulation around it.
Yeah, just insulate the cable on both sides of the wall for several inches. On the inside get the insulation as vapor-tight as possible.
Is the cable getting cold enough for the condensation OR is cold air comming in around the cable.
First thing would be to seal the hole around the cable.
Then if you still have a problem wrap insulation, along with a vapor barrier around the cable.

Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
