We are having a problem with condensation on the inside of our windows. This only occurs when it gets colder than about 35 degrees at night. In the mornings there is condensation on all of our casement windows in the main portion of the house. We keep the thermostat set at about 64 degrees day and night. Our heating system is a Heat Pump. The condensation generally disappears during the day. We had the home built and it was completed this past July. The insulation is R15 in the walls and R38 in the ceiling. The floor between the basement and main floor is insulated as is the garage. The house is tight and I have a feeling that is part of our problem, ie not enough air circulation. My shop which occupies the basement is dry and we have not had any moisture problems in that area.
Our HVAC guy says the problem is that we keep our house to cool. The builder says there is a lot of excess moisture in a new home and the problem will go away. According to our hygrometer the humididty in the house ranges from 55 to 58% which is about normal.
Anyone have any suggestions about the cause of the problem and its cure?
I appreciate any information anyone can provide.
Gary
