Connector for Concrete Pier to Girder
Planning an addtion that will be built on 10″ concrete piers with Bigfoot bases. Spanning the piers will be a double 2×10 Pressure treated builtup girder.
2×10 O.C. joist on top of that.
What do people use to connect the girder to the concrete pier.?
I couldn’t find anything in the simpson catalog for this detail.

Simpson has a number of post bases and beam tie downs for wood to concrete connectons on their web site. Have you checked them out on-line?
I have both looked on line and in their catalog, and can't really find anything that speaks to use on concrete piers.
All of the pier products are geared around posts. 3.5 or 5.5 in. All of the mudsill anchors are for wrapping around a 2x4 or 2x6.
To be honest I was suprised not to find anything.
Use the base for a 4x4- it's measure 3.5" wide, which gives you two options:
1. Place your double 2x girder in the base and use a 1/2" filler to take up the space in the base, then nail it home.
2. Build the girder with 1/2" spaces between the 2x's, and it'll fit nicely into the post base.
Personally, I like #2 since the 1/2" gap between the 2x's gives water a place to drain, rather than sitting on top of the gorder and eventually rotting it.

using the 4x4 post attachment with the spacer is probably the way I will go.
Thanks,
