Does anyone have a recomendation on some software for the building trades. Im a remodler contractor and Im getting tired of doing everything long hand.
I need some ideas on some estimating software and…
some CAD software to help with design and material lists and what have you.
Id be interested in hearing what has worked for other contractors, remodelers or handy men.
thanks

im actually just starting out as a remodeling contractor. Im getting alot of jobs and feel as if im pricing them competively. I can usually get the home owners to show me their other bids and im right there with them.
Rights now im sticking with finishing basements and redoing a bathroom here and there. BUt i really really want to be doing some high end remodels. I feel i can get there.
faustie... my experience is that if you are bidding competively, you are bidding too low..
the average contractor that you are bidding against doesn't have a clue as to what it really costs them to be in business.. so they "bid competively"...
which begs the question "who is setting the rates ?"... the experienced builder/remodeler who knows what his costs are.. or the new kid on the block who doesn't but has "heard " that such and such a job "should " cost this much....
BS !...
identify YOUR costs.. add overhead and profit.. then SELL the job for your price...

Well im not feeling the frustration yet. Im having alot of fun and enjoy doing what im doing and I know im good at it. Or... maybe im not that good because im too picky and anal about the details. details details details. too fussy over the finish work.
