On a project I’m doing I want to do a contemporary trim detail I’ve seen but never done, so I’m not sure how to achieve it.
Instead of a baseboard I want to bring the drywall to about 1″ AFF and leave a reveal. There are drywall beads that would work, such as the Trimtex Z shadow bead and I would use an engineered floor so expansion isn’t much of an issue and I can install the boards 1/4″ from the bottom plate.
I would then keep the bottom of the drywall bead up 1″, install the floor, and then install a 1″ strip of baseboard creating a flush baseboard detail with a reveal 1-1.5″ AFF.
Anyone ever do a detail like this? Any thoughts on how to detail it better?

Reveal should not be at floor level. Too mush crap will get in there and be a pain to vacuum. But if you want it, just be aware.
There are drywall beads that provide 1/4" reveals. Specify the bead before you install the floor as it may impact on sequence of construction.

the reveal won't be at floor level, there will be a 1" board in plane with the drywall and the 1/2" reveal will be at the top of that board.
The trimtex Z bead or equivalent is what I plan to use.
In my note I said "1" up" and it should be "1.5" up", 1" for the baseboard and 1/2" for the reveal.
Check the height of your sweeper before you settle on that dimension.
interesting point, thanks
