Hi,
I picked up a nice set of low voltage landscape lights that I want to mount on top of a wall. The problem is that the post is too long. I was planning to just replace with a nipple and mounting flange but I just discovered that the post has a female thread at both ends. I was thinking of cutting the post then cutting a thread on the outside, making it a male. Then I can use the threaded pipe flange. Bit of a work up. I was just hoping there was an easier solution. All help appreciated.

There's a constant source of clean water for you to use, and all you have to do is collect it.

My guess is that these things arent thick enough to cut threads into. You could mig weld a shipping coupler (the thin kind that comes on full lengths of pipe) on the end after cutting to length.
Make sure to prime and paint, as it's most likely cheap chinese steel.

There's a thread on the inside.

Just looking around on the internet and discovered Lowes does free pipe threading. I'll give that a shot.

Sometimes just a tight slightly tapered fit will be fine. It helps to cut off a short section of the pipe and take it into the plumbing section.
There is more than one way to connect a pipe. Maybe hundreds.
