Saw this website mentioned on another forum. They’ve got great stuff for building fixtures, racks, etc… Just thought I’d pass it along.

I knew a a concrete guy with a sixth grade education who built me a ladder rack out of four sided aluminum track very similar to that. I have since sold my truck but have reconfigured the rack a half dozen times for other uses. The rack was strong enough to haul 20 22' 2x12's at one time. This guy also invented all kinds of hand tools including a ratchet set with an oblong bearing so that when you flipped it over it reversed direction kind of like gear wrench but much cooler and stonger.

I MAY DISAGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING BUT I WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT.

Makes you realize that often formal education isn't the only answer ;)
http://www.reidtool.com carries the entire line and also has a ton of other stuff you'll find useful. btw- their printed catalog is better than their website.

My dad works at a science meuseum and reecently they had some of that 80/20 stuff lying around, its really expensive but wow its cool it's like Legos for adults It's ncreadibly stiff and strong. I've seen a workbench made out of it that was really cool, you can slide bolts in the extruded slots and clamp just about any oddly shaped work-piece easily.
