I would like to bring in cool air to circulate throughout the house. I am in the north Georgia mountains and don’t need A/C, but can get cool air by burying pipe. My question is how deep to bury, how long pipe should be, what kind of pipe and what diameter?

This was a very popular concept in the 1970's and early 1980's. Go to your library and look up a magazine called Mother Earth News. Go find the back issues in the 1970's and 1980's and scan them for what you need. You will find some good basic information on that type of design. Also, check out the web. The concept had a specific name that I cannot recall just now. Mother Earth News will have all that info.
*Geoexhange systems can provide both heating and cooling. It is done with a closed loop of water/antifreeze buried underground. A heat exhanger/pump transfers heat energy either to or from the loop depending on demand. There is some excellent information available at http://www.geoexchange.org or by calling 1-888-255-4436. Some utility companies offer cash rebates to homeowners installing this type of system in conjunction with efficient insulation, etc.
*Hi...some friends of mine in Erie Pa, used this method for drying out interior air in their basement in the summers there. They used 6" black corrugated pipe for the lines, and buried it about 4'down..it sloped slightly towards a piece of perforated pipe placed about halfway in it's 200' run, which drained the condensate into 2B gravel. They used a 6" muffin fan to drive the air into the system..and never had a problem with molds, etc.Good luck..by the way..i live in North Ga...and love the cooler summers here too!Erik
